Chuvash People Group

The Chuvash people are one of the largest minority people groups in Russia. Of the 1.8 million Chuvash, there are just a handful who have experienced true faith in Jesus Christ.
In the 16th century they were “Christianized” by the Orthodox Church, but most today have not experienced the Gospel in a personal way. Pagan beliefs among the Chuvash continue to this day.
Today there are seven Baptist churches in the Republic of Chuvashia, around 300 believers, working to share the love of Christ with the Chuvash people. Evangelism is being done, but the work is slow.
Please join us in prayer for the Chuvash people and for those whom God has called to work with them.
In this section you will find a series of four videos about the Chuvash Republic and the Chuvash people. If you would like to host an Engage Russia emphasis for the Chuvash People of Russia, please visit the “Downloads” section of this web site to obtain your own copy of the videos as well as the print materials that support this campaign.
As always, we would love to hear from you. Please email us at: TellMeMore@EngageRussia.org so we can support you as you host an Engage Russia emphasis for your church or group.
